Houthi rebels (Ansarullah) shoot down Saudi reconnaissance drone in Al-Jawf skies

Ansarullah have shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the Saudi-led military coalition over Yemen’s northern province of al-Jawf.

Spokesman Houthi rebels (Ansarullah) Brigadier General Yahya Saree said air defense forces targeted the Chinese-made Cai Hong strike-capable drone ( (Rainbow 4, CH-4) with a surface-to-air missile which has not been unveiled yet. The drone was on a reconnaissance mission over al-Maraziq area in the Khabb wa ash Sha’af district of AlJawf province in Yemen. Ansarullah released video footage of the wreckage of a Chinese-made Chengdu Wing Loong II drone belonging to the Saudi military.

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi wrote in a post published on his Twitter page a senior member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council threatened to intensify attacks against Saudi Arabia and its allies: “Sanctions do not frighten our fighters. If your siege and aggression persist, we may target sites deep inside some member states of the coalition of aggression (referring to Saudi led coalition), which cannot ever expect,”

Al-Houthi made the remarks in response to the US Treasury Department’s (20 May) decision to impose sanctions on Ansarullah’s two military officials

NOTE: Saudi Arabia-led coalition launched a military intervention against the Zaydi-Shiite AnsarAllah Houthi in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government of President Abdrabuh Mansour Hadi. The intervention prevented a complete Houthi takeover but Hadi’s administration remains very weak despite extensive military and economic support from Saudi Arabia

To confront “Saudi aggression”  AnsarAllah has carried-out frequent incursions into Saudi Arabia territories, using Iranian-made (or based on Iranian knowhow) ballistic/cruise missiles, weaponized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) waterborne IEDs to target Saudi oil, military and civilian infrastructure. AnsarAllah has also claimed responsibility for UAV attacks on Abu Dhabi Airport in the United Arab Emirates and Dubai International Airport.

Ansar Allah maintains a solid alliance with Iran and Lebanese Hizballah, characterized by the provision of propaganda, political support, funds, training, and a variety of light weapons, Anti-tanks missiles, rockets, missiles and drones.
