The commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, said that the next version of the hypersonic Fatah missile might have a range of 2,000 kilometers compared to its current range of 1,400 kilometers. He added, “Iran has achieved all the sophisticated technologies in the field of the defense industry, and the range of hypersonic missiles can be increased to 2,000 km in the future.”

Hajizadeh said Iran should not look to other countries for progress as the IRGC grows stronger daily. He said that Iran must follow the Supreme Leader’s call to become stronger day by day and that they will soon have good news for the people in the field of missiles. He also said Iran had achieved all the necessary technologies in the defense industry by relying on domestic capabilities and the revolutionary youth, despite sanctions and pressures.

Iran’s IRGC unveiled the Fattah hypersonic ballistic missile on June 6, claiming that it has a range of 1,400 kilometers, can maneuver in flight, and can hit its target accurately at Mach 13–15. It is also claimed that the missile is undetectable by existing missile defense systems.

The showcased Fattah missile at the event resembled subsequent iterations of the Fateh-110 series, which are solid-propellant ballistic missiles equipped with fins on their re-entry vehicles (RVs). These fins enable the missiles to maneuver toward their intended targets during the terminal phase within the Earth’s atmosphere.

A re-entry vehicle (RV) powered by a thrust-vectoring motor is more likely to evade Israeli RAFAEL Arrow-3 and US Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) exoatmospheric hypersonic anti-ballistic missile systems because its flight path is more unpredictable. Giant billboards across Iran proudly proclaim the hypersonic missile’s ability to reach Tel Aviv in just 400 seconds.

On June 14, has announced the successful development of an interceptor named “Sky Sonic” to address the growing threat of hypersonic missiles. The Sky Sonic interceptor represents a significant advancement in hypersonic missile defense, focusing on maneuverability and high-speed capabilities.
