Tensions Escalate as Iran’s Proxies target Israel

Iran’s proxies throughout the Middle East continue to attack and threaten Israel, while the mouthpiece of the Iranian Leader “Kayhan” says that Iran’s leader does not intend to be directly involved in the war in Gaza or any other war: “The ideology of the Islamic revolution centers around awakening and empowering nations. It unequivocally supports and empowers any oppressed people striving for freedom. However, it does not engage in wars on behalf of any nation. This strategic approach has effectively thwarted multiple American schemes against Iran in Western Asia”.

On October 31, Hezbollah’s affiliated Al-Manar media outlet released a brief video titled “On the Road to Jerusalem,” where it issued threats of potential attacks in northern Israel. The video showcased recent Hezbollah assaults on Israeli forces along the Lebanon-Israel border, proudly highlighting their success in killing Israeli soldiers, destroying tanks, and targeting military positions since the October 7 Hamas attacks.

One particularly ominous statement from the video warned, “If we enter, we will come out on your streets… to kill you.” Additional footage featured Hezbollah fighters undergoing specialized military training for potential incursions into Israel and paid homage to militants who lost their lives in recent clashes with the IDF.

Notably, the video included a short glimpse of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who is scheduled to deliver a speech on November 3 at 15:00 local time. This speech will be Nasrallah’s first public address since the deadly Hamas attack on October 7. The event is described as a ceremony “honoring the martyrs who have risen on the road to Jerusalem in defense of Gaza, the Palestinian people, and the holy sites.” Nationwide gatherings to watch the speech will be organized in Shia community centers across Beirut, Baalbek, Nabatieh, and Deir Qanoun in southern Lebanon.

On October 25, Nasrallah penned a handwritten letter praising the “sacrifices” of Hezbollah “martyrs” who were killed in confrontations with the Israeli army in southern Lebanon. He described them as martyrs in the pursuit of liberating Jerusalem (al-Quds).

Meanwhile, another Iranian proxy, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, claimed responsibility for three separate attacks involving cruise missiles, conventional missiles, and a significant drone offensive targeting Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) managed to detect, track, and intercept Houthi surface-to-surface ballistic missile 100 km from Eilat, employing the strategic “Hetz” 3 / “Arrow” 3 long-range defense system.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the official spokesperson of the Armed Forces, stated:

“In response to our religious, moral, humanitarian, and patriotic duty, and per the wishes of our Yemeni people and calls from free nations to aid our oppressed brethren in Gaza, our armed forces have initiated a significant barrage of ballistic and cruise missiles targeting various locations within the occupied territories of the Israeli adversary. The Yemeni armed forces declare that this operation represents the third show of support for our oppressed Palestinian brothers. The Yemeni Armed Forces affirm their commitment to executing further precise missile and drone strikes until the Israeli aggression is brought to a halt.”.
